Three Descriptions of This Type

Yesenin (INFP) - a dreamer and romantic. Drawn to everything new, beautiful, and original. Likes to make an impression through delicacy and elegance in actions or speech. Burdened by routine: attracted to art, interested in unusual people and extraordinary phenomena. Travels willingly and loves adventures. Finds business activity difficult; more inclined to reflect than to act. Often hesitates when making decisions and dislikes obligations. At times can be unpredictable.

Yesenin becomes attached to people and tries to improve the mood of those around. Very tolerant of human weaknesses and flaws. Kindness and serenity allow this type to successfully act as a peacemaker between disputing sides. Knows how to use flexibility and influence over people who find it hard to refuse requests.

Very charming: smiles even when saying unpleasant things. Possesses a subtle sense of humor. It is difficult to quarrel with Yesenin. May experience sharp mood swings — from laughter to tears. Shares personal problems with others and needs sympathy and support. Takes defeats hard, but despite this never loses hope for the better.

Yesenin (INFP) - perceives life as a stream of varied events and changes. Tracks changes in inner state within that flow. Able to see phenomena and events dynamically, predict or imagine their future development, and notice how they intertwine and influence one another. Freely handles time, both personal and others’, often feeling there is “eternity in reserve,” and can calmly postpone things.

Sees the task within the flow of events, not always positive ones, as maintaining a good emotional atmosphere. Knows how not to lose heart in difficult situations and hopes for a favorable outcome. Tends to hide anxieties and bad moods behind a gentle smile. Can calm quarrels and smooth conflicts in a group. May also spoil everyone’s mood if certain others will patiently tolerate and accept it.

Easygoing in everyday life and does not impose on anyone. Tries to maintain appearance. In extreme situations can endure difficult physical conditions and pain. Suggestible in health matters and under fashionable influences may follow certain diets or treatment systems.

Does not know how to save money or manage finances wisely. May spend money on beautiful but useless things (though for this type beauty itself is useful). Dislikes constant instructions about what and how to do things. Prefers finding a personal rhythm in work and following it. Does not like straining too much during work. Afraid of tasks never encountered before.

Attracted to people with confidence and strength, and can adapt to such people without becoming victims of despotism. Without firm guidance becomes relaxed, scattered, easily distracted, and may fall into bad habits. If kept long in uncomfortable conditions, may become pointedly rude.

Loves clarity in understanding situations, a well-thought-out plan with a clear final goal. Needs understandable systems and technologies. However, rigid discipline and petty control do not suit this type.

Sees opportunities and prospects well, but often does not use them and later regrets it. Lives by the principle of non-interference in another person’s inner world. Critical of own abilities and afraid of being talentless or unneeded. Needs compliments and encouragement regarding abilities.

Does not speak directly about attitude toward people, preferring to show it through actions, looks, presence, and acceptance. In a group keenly senses mood shifts and small relational changes, quietly trying to harmonize them and prevent conflict. In business matters this sociotype uses connections and personal charm.

1. The Yesenin sociotype (INFP) is a somewhat dreamy romantic, a person of reflection more than action. An individualist. The present concerns this type little; inspired instead by shining prospects of bright cities that may someday be built. Fairly emotional, understands another’s feelings well and does not hide personal ones. Yet emotionality is somewhat incomplete, with noticeable elements of expectant observation. Shows emotions not when another person’s “cup overflows,” but when personally considered appropriate. Approach to emotion is highly creative: rage may be seen as ethical, restraint as unethical.

2. Inclined to fall in love. What distinguishes another person from the gray mass is strength, purposefulness, and intellect — especially if that strength yields to emotional influence. Yesenin is very tolerant of people, understands them, and tries to forgive weaknesses.

3. Tutankhamun’s smile. In extreme conditions, the weapon is the ability to demonstrate an attitude toward events and reveal their funny side. Hence the subtle sense of humor (Jerome K. Jerome) and the characteristic transparent smile in sharp moments. The smile is warm, comforting, and stimulating. Most often it is a sign of anxiety. Such a smile was attributed to Gagarin, the first cosmonaut. Its purpose is to raise morale and energize a partner.

4. Elegant. Appears balanced and well-composed. Widely opened eyes rarely squint. Eyebrows are usually arched, without a tendency to droop. Everyday elegance, not only for holidays. Rarely seen in an awkward pose; intonations are refined. Plasticity of movement and rhythm stand out. All the more surprising are two things: little attention is paid to others’ elegance, and at home chaos may reign — both objects and people entering the home must find their own place, or someone must show it to them.

5. Patron. A fighter for people’s emotional liberation. Feels responsible for the mood and vitality of loved ones. Uses subtle humor to stir and awaken people. In company, Yesenin looks around not to judge clothing, but to see how everyone feels (and this is exactly what should be retold to others). On a large scale, dreams of bringing harmony to society. For this type, history is the history of art. Strong attraction to beauty: poetry, painting, elegant trinkets. Tries personally to be graceful. This personality type loves communicating with artists, poets, bohemians, and generally exotic people.

Socionic Dichotomies of Yesenin

Introversion

My inner world is more understandable to me than other people. When meeting others, I expect them to take the initiative. I tend to limit my social circle. Communication drains my energy, and I need solitude to restore it.

Intuition

Strong imagination, figurative thinking, and abstraction. I quickly grasp meanings, create ideas and images. Insight, foresight, perceptiveness, creativity.

Ethics

I understand people’s feelings and emotional states, as well as relationships between people. I understand relationships, can build and maintain them, bring people closer or create distance. I am guided by the feeling of “like / dislike”.

Irrationality

A tendency to perceive the world as it is, without attachment to beliefs, views, evaluations, or principles. I quickly respond to changes in circumstances.

Dynamic

Smooth movements, flexible facial expressions, changing poses. Transitions are fluid. When speaking, information unfolds smoothly, flowing from one thing to another. Reality is perceived and described as a continuous stream of change.

Positivism

I first notice the positive sides of a situation: what is present, what is good about it, and how close it is to some ideal standard. I note what can bring it closer to that ideal.

Questimity

Questioning intonations are characteristic. A tendency to ask questions. Conversation is conducted as a dialogue. In speech I expect questions, and after answering I continue without losing my train of thought.

Tactics

Long-term goals are seen vaguely. I do better taking immediate steps based on the current situation. The key to success is correct actions and solving present tasks.

Emotivism

I become emotionally involved in other people’s experiences, but recover quickly. I can talk calmly about a traumatic event from the past without reliving the feelings. If I remember the plot, rewatching films or rereading books is uninteresting. I can listen to a song many times without paying attention to the lyrics.

Result

The main thing is the result — what the activity is for. A tendency to summarize intermediate and final outcomes. I can easily interrupt the process, note an interim result, and then re-enter it from the same point.

Yielding

Interests and desires should correspond to available resources. One should act based on resources rather than desires. Interests can be abandoned if they are too resource-intensive. In an argument, I may agree or leave it if proving my point is not worth the effort. If the price rises, I may give up the desire even if I wanted it.

Foresight

Situations are usually typical and have standard solutions that can be transferred and reused. I keep approaches to common situations in mind and can offer solutions. I rely on other people’s experience and apply it as a correct, proven order of actions.

Decisiveness

I value willpower, decisiveness, and speed of decision-making. A state of mobilization is natural, familiar, and necessary. Rest itself is not among my values.

Subjectivism

The same thing can be seen differently by each person depending on viewpoint, concept, or perspective. Each point of view describes a phenomenon from different sides. A judgment may be correct within its own system of coordinates but fail in practice. To prove something, terminology must be aligned, since we may understand the same thing differently.

Aristocracy

Every person belongs to a certain group, class, or category (Muscovite, higher educated, entrepreneur, military, convicted, one of us, outsider, etc.). If it is known which group a person belongs to, one can infer what qualities they have.
